A good film with fine performances from its cast...

This is a gentle and elegaic lament for lives wasted and lives on the brink of waste. Everything in the movie - cinematography, acting and directing - combines to produce a sweet, sad music.

A beautifully executed synthesis of tragedy and humour.

The result is sad, sombre and darkly comic, largely due to Shortt’s well-judged lead performance and farcical vignettes that wouldn’t look out of place in an episode of Father Ted.
