Filmen känns mycket autentisk och man lyckas mycket bra med att återskapa tidsepoken utan att ta till tjyvknep.

The film gets beneath the skin of the characters, laying bare their hair-trigger emotions, but it doesn’t set them up as heroes.

It's a bloodthirsty, violent and emotionally intricate gangster movie in a world of depressing Brit flick pretenders, and that alone is reason to like it.

There’s no denying Romanzo Criminale’s naked ambition, its multi-strand narrative living up to its title (‘Crime Novel’).
