Set in the early 1950s (The African Queen is in theaters, so we’re talking, say, 1951), The Majestic is a feel-good flick in the old-fashioned sense.
It’s rather lovely, made with obvious affection and appealing sentiments.
It flies the flag in honor of our World War II heroes, and evokes nostalgic for small-town movie palaces and the people who run them. It makes us feel about as good as any movie made this year.
